Demand

In the context of the European Gender Mainstreaming strategies the question arises to what extent and in what way men and women actively support equality processes.
Women are still significantly more represented in these processes than men.
Research-based and practical qualification of both men and women in the awareness of the different patterns of male orientation in the equality process  may counteract this imbalance.

A lack of knowledge of different concepts of masculinities and the need to involve boys and men as active supporters of equality leads to practical needs and great demand for the subject. Dealing with the diversity of masculinities makes an important contribution to gender democracy.
Women experts in the field of practice express the wish to extend their knowledge in working with boys and men.

Male experts in social work are challenged to reflect their own concepts of masculinity in this field of work, which is traditionally dominated by women.
